Male body hair removal can mean something different to every man and every generation.

Until more recently most males didn’t consider body hair removal to be a manly thing to do with the only exception of course, being facial hair removal.

The macho types of earlier generations thought body hair removal was for women or gay males or possibly porn stars. This attitude and belief about body hair removal is drastically changing especially with today’s younger generations.

In many societies around the world we are starting to see male underarm hair becoming less appealing than in the past. Why, there was a time not to long ago when most macho males would never have considered hair removal from their armpits and now it is becoming much more widely acceptable.

It is no longer just body builders who want cleanly shaved bodies including arms, legs, pubic regions and chests anymore. Males are removing more body hair from all parts of their bodies for a number of different reasons, including to please their partners, for athletic enhancement and for some, to just be cleaner and more sexually attractive.

So what techniques are males in today’s macho generations turning to for their body hair removal?

Many males like the smooth look and feel that waxing can give them. They also like the fact that it only needs to be done every three to four weeks, but – They are finding there are a few drawbacks with waxing as well.

Let’s take a look at waxing for male body hair removal -

The hot wax will need to be applied to the area where the hair is to be removed. You will need to be extremely careful to not burn the skin with the hot wax, which is one of the drawbacks of waxing.

Next, a strip of linen will then be placed on top of the hot wax, which is then pulled off rapidly in order to pull all of the hair out by the roots. (Can you say, “OUCH”?)

If a male is doing a large area such as his chest or back, this can be a rather painful process. The skin can also become quite sore and irritated as the top layer of skin is usually pulled off with the wax and cloth. (Can you say double, “OUCH”??)

Waxing can also be an expensive and time-consuming hair removal method if large areas are waxed at a time. So the hairier the male is, the less likely this will be as an appropriate solution for male body hair removal.

Even for many of today’s macho males this doesn’t sound very appealing. I mean you really have to be a macho, macho male to not yell and scream when someone is pulling all of those body hairs out by the roots.

Maybe this is our cultures’ new right of passage for males today … I can see it now – You can’t become a real macho male until you have had all of your body hair removed by waxing without letting out a single yell or scream.

What do you think? Do you think many males would make it into adulthood as real macho males?

Another drawback to waxing is that although it’s only done every three to four weeks, the hairs do begin to grow back during that time and can become quite stubbly and itchy before you can perform the waxing again.

You must wait three to four weeks to allow the hairs to grow back long enough, (which is usually about a half an inch), to be pulled out by the waxing process once again. This means you will have to go for some time looking and feeling like you have sandpaper skin all over if you want to continue with the waxing.

Many of the other methods of body hair removal including electrolysis, lasers, threading, and plucking are not viable options for male body hair removal because of the expense, time consumption, skin irritation and pain for each of these methods over large portions of the body.

This leaves depilatory solutions and shaving as the only other viable methods of male body hair removal.

Some males do find depilatory solutions to be quite effective, although even on tougher male skin, some males find the chemicals in the solutions too harsh for larger and more sensitive regions on their body.

Shaving still ends up to be one of the more widely used methods of male body hair removal.

Yes, this method of body hair removal needs to be done quite often, but when done with one of the new personal body shavers, it can be done quickly, inexpensively and pain free. The most important advantage of all is that a male can always look and feel smooth, sexy and clean-shaven without nicks, cuts or skin irritations.
