I know I am. But does such a thing really exist?
Don’t you get sick and tired of all the claims out there that lure you into believing their product will take care of your hair removal problems forever and they can’t even remove the hair effectively for one time or one day much less a lifetime?
Take a look at laser hair removal
Everyone was sure laser treatments for hair removal was the greatest invention since sliced bread. Many claimed that it was not only a long lasting hair removal solution but a permanent, lifetime treatment for hair removal anywhere on the body. And people were even more excited about laser facial hair removal.
Boy, were all those people who fell for that one unhappy after they spent tons of money and time not to mention all the pain during and after the laser treatments to remove their hair to only have the hair grow back in a few short weeks. That’s right, I said a few short weeks not even months.
Can you imagine that? I do hope my lifetime and your lifetime for that matter lasts longer than a few short weeks, don’t you? I sure don’t consider a few weeks to be a permanent or even a long lasting hair removal product by any stretch of the imagination especially when it involves that much money, time and pain.
Herbal and over the counter home remedies
Of course, there are the newest herbal and other over the counter home remedies that you can take internally and some of these are even topically applied (I’m not talking about the chemical depilatory creams here). Many of these claim to be long lasting, if not permanent, hair removal products.
I hope you haven’t fallen victim to one of these products either. They may not be as expensive as laser treatments but they’re even less effective. I mean with these products you will be lucky if you notice any hair loss at all or even any kind of decrease in hair growth.
Of course, some people actually believe some of these products do reduce the amount of hair or slow down the hair growth but there really isn’t any scientific evidence to back up these claims. Maybe they just need to get glasses or maybe they don’t want to admit they wasted a lot of their own money for nothing.
If you decide to try any of these so called long lasting hair removal products, check them out carefully first.
What about electrolysis?
Okay, so what about electrolysis? This is the only true long lasting hair removal product out there that can actually claim to be somewhat permanent and be truthful about it.
The electric current that is used to zap the hair shaft down to the root actually does permanently damage and destroy the entire hair follicle preventing the re-growth of the hair. Of course it can’t prevent new hair follicles from developing to replace the damaged ones but the old ones will not likely grow back once they are damaged by the electric current.
This can be a viable long lasting solution to hair removal, if you really want to go through the excruciating pain of zapping every single hair with an electric shock. (Ouchy, Ouchy) It’s also very time consuming and very expensive so it’s not a feasible long lasting hair removal product for large areas of hair like armpits, legs, chests, backs or even entire pubic regions.
However, electrolysis can be recommended for women’s facial hair or bikini lines if you can stand the pain and you are willing to accept the risks of burns and electrical shocks.
Also, there definitely is a technique involved to carefully insert the wire into the hair shaft and reach the root, so be extremely cautious when choosing a salon to perform the treatments and think it over more than twice if you are seriously considering purchasing one and performing the treatments yourself.
What can we do for hair removal?
Okay, so what can we do for hair removal on the rest of our bodies if the only known long lasting hair removal products out there are not great solutions for our hair removal needs?
